LGBTQIA+, Trans and Gender Diverse

Helping you heal from the past so you can become the version of yourself you know you can be.

The people I work with all have something in common. They know that experiences from their past are still influencing their lives today, and they feel ready to work through them.

For the LGBTQIA+ community or trans and gender diverse people, some of those experiences can be unique.

You may have grown up feeling that your sexuality wasn’t recognised, accepted or supported. You may have experienced coming out trauma, ongoing rejection from family, or spent years feeling that an important part of who you are wasn’t truly seen. For some people, there is also a history of sexual assault or sexual trauma that continues to affect relationships, intimacy and self-worth.

If you’re trans, I work with people who have already transitioned and are wanting to explore the deeper impact of earlier experiences, rather than the transition itself. You may have grown up feeling that your gender wasn’t seen or accepted, and while you now feel comfortable in who you are, those earlier experiences may still influence how you see yourself, relate to other people and move through the world. It’s the lasting impact of these experiences that is bringing you to therapy.

You may already understand those experiences well. You’ve thought about them, reflected on them, and perhaps had therapy before. You can see the connection between what happened then and the patterns that still show up now. Maybe you find yourself putting other people’s needs before your own, struggling to trust yourself, finding it difficult to speak up, or noticing that old wounds continue to shape your closest relationships.

Understanding where those patterns come from is important, but insight alone doesn’t always create the change you’re looking for.

My approach is grounded in understanding trauma

My approach is grounded in understanding trauma and the ways our minds and bodies adapt to survive difficult experiences. Whether those experiences relate to childhood, family relationships, coming out, not feeling accepted, or sexual trauma, I view them through the same trauma lens that guides all of my work.

Many of the people I work with have reached a point where they feel strong enough to do this work. They’re no longer looking simply to cope. They want to understand themselves more deeply, work through the experiences that continue to influence their lives, and feel less shaped by the past.

If that’s where you find yourself, I’d love to help.

Before you get in touch

I offer depth-oriented psychotherapy for adults seeking long-term emotional change. This work is reflective and relational—not strategies-based or short-term symptom management.

I typically work with clients on a fortnightly basis, and meaningful work often extends beyond the Medicare-subsidised 10 sessions.

If you’re seeking a consistent, emotionally safe space to explore how early experiences shape your present, I welcome your enquiry.
